At Connecting for Good, we truly live by the motto “Reuse Before You Recycle.” Every year, millions of perfectly usable computers are stripped down and their components recycled. Reuse is essential to protecting our environment, and it also allows us to create high-quality, Internet-ready computers for low-income families and nonprofit organizations. These refurbished computers are a valuable resource for urban core that we are serving.
Our refurbishing process includes cleaning, repairing, replacing, or adding parts as needed; upgrades if necessary such as random access memory (RAM); and clearing data and software in which hard drives are reformatted so the previous owner’s data is erased. We are a Registered Microsoft Refurbisher, which means we adhere to and comply with Microsoft standards of refurbishing qualified computers that are purchased by the community. Since Connecting for Good started in 2011, we have prevented several tons of landfill by claiming unused computers and computer parts. We receive computer donations from businesses, families, and individuals throughout Kansas City.
